To continue here – Home Rehabilitation Guide for caregivers of people with Dementia is a book of activities for the stimulation of cognitive functions (attention/concentration, perception, memory, orientation, language, information, knowledge, functional abilities, calculation, reasoning, abstraction, and critical judgment, movement, and emotions), in a home context, using everyday objects and naturally inserted in daily routines. It arises because current research in neurosciences points to lifelong brain regeneration capacity, and it is also possible that other brain areas, not injured, can perform the functions normally associated with other brain areas. Its main objectives are:
• Guide caregivers on tasks that can stimulate the capacities of the elderly/person with dementia in their care;
• Slow the progression of the disease by making daily stimulation activities more accessible (free of charge and at home);
• Complement interventions by specialized technicians and drug therapy;
• Increase the patient’s functional capacity, improving their quality of life and that of their caregiver, allowing them to be maintained for longer in a family context (elderly in a home context cost the State less).
